Course Details
Safe working environments are a fundamental right and essential for all workers. Site Managers Safety Training Schemes equip individuals with a comprehensive guide to site safety from a managerial point of view. The SMSTS course allows you to understand your responsibilities and accountability regarding health and safety, welfare, environmental, and supervisory issues in the construction industry. It also teaches you that a safe site is economical, efficient, and productive.
This Site Managers Safety Training Scheme is for current and prospective project managers, site managers, supervisors, plus business owners, and clients. It is a highly interactive and engaging course that is taught through a range of teaching and learning techniques. You will participate in case studies, classroom discussions, group work, and presentations. Some work outside of the course is required.

- Reasons for accidents within the industry.
- How to report incidents, including RIDDOR & First Aid.
- Health & Safety systems, HSE Guidelines, codes of practice and in compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
- Duties, responsibilities, systems of work, policies & enforcement.
- Management of Health & Safety at Work 1999.
- The regulations for Plant & equipment, maintenance, inspections certification & competent operatives.
- Construction regulations (CDM Construction Design Management).
- The appropriate measures, permits & emergency plans for confined spaces.
- Demolition.
- Electricity at work & fire precautions.
- Working at height regulation 2005.
- CDM Regulations part 4 including excavations, site transport & welfare.
- Manual Handling.
- Control of Substance Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
- Lead procedures & health surveillance.
- Asbestos types, notifications, procedures & choosing approved contractors.
- Instruction, information & appropriate training.
- Hazards to health.
- Selecting appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Monitoring, systems, standards, behaviour, equipment, environment & safety audits.
Assessment
Trainees are assessed by continuous observation throughout the day and a multiple-choice exam. You must attend all 5 days to qualify.
Duration
This Site Managers Safety Training Scheme is a 5 day course. It is available for a 5 day block or 1 day per week for 5 weeks.
Certification
Upon course completion, successful candidates will receive a CITB Site Safety Plus Certificate. The certificate is valid for 5 years.

From 1st April 2022, our suppliers will only fuel machines with white diesel. This is due to new government guidelines.
If you, as the hirer, refuel any equipment while it is in your possession, it must be with WHITE DIESEL.
YOU MUST NOT USE RED DIESEL IN HIRED MACHINES OR EQUIPMENT.
If you return a machine refuelled with rebated diesel, suppliers will have to remove and dispose of the fuel. They must also flush the tank and supply lines before they can refuel them. The process is chargeable, with no exceptions.
Hire Shield is a subrogation waiver covering the first £50 (Standard) or £200 (Premium) of the £1,700 hired-in plant claim excess. It is included in every booking. The charge is calculated at checkout.
